No More Name Changes

Sorry for changing the name of my blog without notifying anyone. I had some people being really creepy and stalkerish so I changed the name out of concern. But then my views plummeted and I realized I should've warned people first. I was thinking of changing my blog name to Ink'd Cupcake but since I have had my blog the same name for several years I will just keep it. Sorry again for the sudden change and thank you to all my loyal viewer! I have been working on a lot of stuff and will post things a couple times a week to keep from spamming your blog feeds. Most of the new posts will be under this one to keep the date they were actually completed correct so just be sure to scroll down! Happy Saint Patrick's day and have a wonderful week.

MH Tiefling cosplay

While saving up and waiting for my BJD I made a costume for my Operetta. I based it off my D&D character which is a Tiefling Hunter Ranger. I didn't spend too much time on it because it was a last minute decision before we played but I think it turned out cute just the same.

Steampunk Doll Dress

This is a work in progress of a MH dress I made. I am very happy with how it looks so far but I would love to add some more details to it to make it look more Steampunk. Don't worry, I have her head. It's just waiting to have it's faceup done. I might put this dress on Etsy when I'm finished so be sure to check the shop from time to time for new additions. Enjoy ^_^

February BJD Sewing Challenge

In order to keep myself motivated to sew something in my down time I joined a sewing challenge group on facebook. Each month they give you an assignment and you have that entire month to complete it. February was "Something Purple". Since I don't have a ball jointed doll yet I have just been using my Monster High dolls. My challenge piece was just a simple shirt but it is such a pain sewing things that tiny. If you're unfamiliar with MH dolls they are about the size of a Barbie but very oddly proportioned making it difficult to sew for. I'm hoping to modify the dolls i currently have by giving them new faces and, some of them, new hair. Any sewing project takes a backseat to cosplay though so I don't have much time to work on modifications yet. More doll sewing pictures to come!

Poro Plushies

These posts are all messed up date wise but that's ok! I actually added these little guys to my shop about a month before Katsucon. Everyone loved the one I took to the convention and I was able to give out some shop cards. They are super easy to make and I would love to stock up my shop just so I can have an army of them in my living room ^_^ Thankfully the weather complied with my sewing project and game me some snow to shoot in. If you like them come over to my shop and order one! Enjoy!
Someone drew a pentagram in the snow at Katsucon and I couldn't resist!

Katsucon 2014

I won't type much, I'll just let you enjoy the pictures. This was our first Katsucon and it was great! I will definitely be going again next year. I took Grell, Elsa, and Ezreal with me. Our photo shoots in the snow turned out amazing thanks to our lovely photographer friend. Since it was Valentine's day that Friday I gave out Grell themed valentines on Friday and Frozen valentines on Saturday. Everyone got super excited over them and I even received some in return.

Grell and Sebastian shoot:

Everyone's favorite shot
I gave Chi a Valentine!

Saturday the weather was terrible and of course everyone blamed us, Elsa and Jack Frost, for it! So not too many outdoor shots because the cold doesn't bother me but the strong wind does! We were both a big hit but I am going to re-do a lot of this cosplay because it was not anything I was proud of. I really was annoyed with the wig because it was so heavy and therefore kept shifting. I will be using my own hair for the next con and re-making everything except for the length and the shoes.

Queen Elsa and Jack Frost:
I received so many compliments on my shoes :3
The painful outdoor shots
Made it to the Gazebo O_O
All the Frozen Cosplays!

On Saturday night and Sunday I wore Ezreal but was Femezreal because I didn't feel like wearing my wig. This turned out to be a great idea because I found several guys dressed as male versions of female League of Legends champions! It was so much fun and I love how creative everyone was. I had a lot of compliments on the Poro I made and brought with me. I gave lots of people the card for my Etsy shop where they can be purchased.

Found some pretty, cosplaying asian boys ^_^
More gender bender LoL champs
Thanks for the wonderful first time experience Katsu! I can't wait to come back in 2015!

Frozen/Jack Frost Cosplay Progress

After seeing Rise of the Guardians and Frozen my boyfriend and I knew what to cosplay during the snowy conventions! So we started working on our Elsa and Jack Frost cosplays. We are going to Katsucon in February so we should have some nice snowy backgrounds to take pictures in. The hardest part of this cosplay has been Elsa's corset...Sequin fabric is no where to be found and I don't have time to hand sew them on even if I could find packets of them. So I am doing glitter and fabric glue with rhinestone accents instead. This was Hunter's first coplay that he worked on himself (with some help from me of course). He mostly did the clothing parts and I did the staff and helped with the painting. I really want to find a different way to make the staff because it was very fragile and the hooked part doesn't want to stay attached.

The base is wood and cardboard (will make out of all wood and nails next time). Then I wrapped it in papermache clay and painted it.

Jack's pants and Hoodie after they were painted. I love how both of these turned out.  We used fabric paint for the white and some acrylic paint for the blue details on the pants.

My Elsa cosplay started out so strong. I found almost all of the material I needed in one trip which (at least at my fabric store) is unheard of. Then I made the length of the skirt the next day so I felt I was doing really well on my time table. And then the corset part came and that part alone took me several weeks just to figure out how to make it since I couldn't find sequin fabric or packets of sequins anywhere. I finally found a girl who came up with the glue and glitter idea and was pleasantly surprised when I was finished. This cosplay will be far from perfect because it's very last minute but I think it will look good for now.
I bought these hideous shoes off craiglist for $4. They were originally plum colored with suede and fake snake scales...This is after I painted them blue.
And voilĂ ! Now they are beautiful. These are by far my favorite part of this last minute cosplay.
My first time making a corset but I don't think it looks bad. It was just so much work.
My Elsa wig was made from two separate ones sewn together.
After sewing and styling.

Hopefully everything will come together nicely. I really want to redo this cosplay later because there are a lot of corners being cut to finish this on time. Stay tuned for Katsucon pictures!

Illogicon is a tiny con in Raleigh that only about 400 people attend. I was only able to go to one day of the con but it was great because I got to meet a lot of really nice people and hang out with friends. I just dressed casual in my new Borderlands 2 Firehawk shirt and my friend took some pictures of me. I am planning on attending the entire con next year and I hope that it will continue to grow. Here are the pictures of my evening adventure! :)
